Every October I get my pink yarn 2.0mm crochet hook and make ribbon earrings in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I’ve shared in years past that two of my aunts surcumed to the awful disease. My Auntie’s Ruby and Betty were amazing women who I loved immensely. Auntie Ruby was my second mother. My Aunt Betty was my big sister as she was raised by my mom. I love them and miss them dearly. It is because of them that I check my breasts, it’s because of them that I do my yearly mammogram.
This year I’ve decided to give a portion of my proceeds from sales of the ribbon earring to the Pink Fund .
The Pink Fund is a non-profit breast cancer organization that provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses on behalf of breast cancer
From the Pink Fund Organization
patients in active treatment, so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace.
There are a lot of charities that contribute to cancer research which is important but I want to help women in a non medical way. Women undergoing cancer treatment need help with every day expenses like the phone bill, food, travel etc. There are BILLIONS of dollars put aside for research but very little for everyday needs. So if you are looking for a way to help this month please consider the Pink Fund.
