18 Years of Parenthood

Hey Ya’ll,

Today is our oldest son’s 18th birthday! We have been parents for 18 yrs, this is quite remarkable to me. I sit in awe of God when I look at our children but especially when I look at our oldest son. He was the child we prayed for. Those of you who have read my blog before know that we experienced fertility issues and that I had to have a myomectomy which removed 14 fibroids. Post-surgery we got pregnant with Erick. He is our rainbow baby.

Over the past 18 years my husband and I have learned a lot about ourselves. We’ve learned our tolerance levels, we’ve learned who the disciplinarian is and who’s the softy. We’ve learned to lead by example and we’ve learned that parenting is the most rewarding gift we could have ever received.

As Erick grows and continues to develop he knows that he has two people behind him pushing him to be the best in whatever he decides to do in life. He graduated High School this year, is finishing a coding certificate program and recently passed his permit test. He was terminated for his first job and is on the hunt for a new one. He loves video games and is a super DC and Marvel fan. We are proud of the young man he has become and can’t wait to see what he does in the future.
