I am a small business owner. I am a supporter of small businesses and I think it’s so important that we support one another.
According to the Census Bureau, more than 4.4 million new businesses were created in the U.S. during 2020 — the highest total on record. For reference, that’s a 24.3% increase from 2019 and 51.0% higher than the 2010-19 average. Half a million new businesses were started in January 2021, alone!
Did y’all read that? 4.4 MILLION new businesses! From virtual assistants to pet grooming, bakeries and personal chefs, t-shirt and candle . The pandemic allowed people to work from home and turn their passion into profit. However the only way small businesses survive is if we help them. As a crocheter I have learned so much not only about my craft but also about the market, my clientele and my ‘competition’. Doing the necessary research for tools and supplies is time consuming and often costly. Running a business is hard work!
Entrepurnurship isn’t for everyone (heck most of us can’t even spell it) but for those who have embarked upon the journey we need the support of our family and friends to keep our business viable. So this post is just a little push to ask folks to consider small when you are looking to make your next purchase. If you have a friend that you know makes T-Shirts order from them instead of going to a major store or company. If you are looking for gift ideas and you have a friend with a candle line support them!
America doesn’t run on Dunkin’ it runs on small businesses, those mom and pop stores that were the ONLY stores from yesteryear are now online, support them.
