In celebration of Mother’s Day, all week I will celebrate some of the Working Mama’s in my life who are making it HAPPEN.
Today’s feature is the extraordinary, super talented Melissa Leraye Legions.
Melissa is the mom of one of Leah’s BFF’s Kayla Joie, she is a dancer, choreographer, entrepreneur and all around bundle of unprecedented talent.

Melissa Leraye Legions was born in Brooklyn, New York. She is the only girl and the oldest child to Leroy and Jeryl Legions. She is also the proud single mom to the smart and talented Kayla Joie, “Joy”. In April 2015, Melissa was interviewed by Author Omar Bryan on the subject of “Motherhood, Balancing Ministry and Home”, her “two babies”. This interview gave her the opportunity to speak to and encourage other single mothers at The Brooklyn Tabernacle.
Melissa currently works as an educational assistant, “paraprofessional”, for the Department of Education but is also pursuing a couple of entrepreneur opportunities. She is the artistic director of the New Life Cathedral Dance & Movement Ministry at New Life Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Robert J. Rochford.
