I don’t own a Kindle, I still love the feel of a book between my fingers. I still use my library card and this summer I’m sure I’ll get into a few good reads.
Thought I’d pass on a list of top 5 summer books for you to consider.
Thanks to my friend Ms. O over at Elev8 for some of these suggestions.
The Ideal Wife – Jacqueline Thomas
Marrying a handsome, wealthy lawyer and living in a Hollywood Hills mansion…it’s a dream come true for twenty-four-year-old Jana, from the moment Lawrence Collins swept her off her feet and into his luxurious world. True, she put her studies at a local Bible college on hold in order to wed after a six-month whirlwind romance. Beautiful and vivacious, with a stunning body, Jana knows men like Lawrence don’t come along every day, and she vows to be a perfect companion — the ideal wife — to this sexy, powerful man. But at what price.
The Shack – Wm. Paul Young (I am reading this right now.. it’s GOOD!)
Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his “Great Sadness,” Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.
Message from a A Mistress – Niobia Bryant
Through good times and bad, longtime friends Jaime, Renee, Aria, and Jessa have shared just about everything. But all hell breaks loose when Jessa texts them a shocking revelation: she’s been sharing her bed–with one of their husbands. To make matters worse, she refuses to name which husband she’s been cheating with. And all three wives believe they have reason to worry.
The Son – M. Ann Ricks
Daniel Manders has been dubbed the “chosen one.” Since childhood, he has always been the one that was admired and called upon to do the right thing especially when it involved rectifying a situation for his family. Choosing to leave home to escape the pressures of family, he lived his life without worrying about rescuing his brothers from themselves. While living the life he thinks he wants, Daniel finds himself in a situation that only the Lord can get him out of. When finally acknowledging that he had been shirking his responsibilities and a divine calling, a way of escape is provided. He decides that he can run no more and promises to return to the home of his youth. Upon his return, he meets Melina; a woman that seems to be made just for him. Strategically stitched throughout and around the main storyline, secondary plots emerge involving Daniel’s brothers. While trying to be the man he feels he needs to be and reassemble the puzzle that he calls his family, Daniel’s purpose becomes clear but God’s desire and destiny for his family is challenged. Will Daniel arrive at that realization and trust that His Heavenly Father’s word is true? Will he believe that “All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose?”

She’s Back! One of my favoriate christian authors is giving us a good juicy piece of fiction to sinck our teeth into. — Have the sins of the mother come upon the daughter?Jasmine Larson Bush is finally living a drama-free life. As the days pass without any sign of her daughter, Jasmine begins to crack under the strain and turns to Brian Lewis, Jacqueline’s biological father, for solace.

Here is a nice list from About.com of summer reading for the kids. Make sure they have a book packed in the vacation luggage as well.
