Hey Y’all,

Love comes in many forms, and Valentine’s Day is a chance to express gratitude for the people who make our lives brighter. Whether it’s your parents, siblings, best friends, or even coworkers, this day can be about reminding them how much they mean to you. Growing up, I remember my mother giving us little Valentine’s treats—I also remember the crafts we would make in school for our classmates. My daughter and I were walking down the aisles of a store and she saw a box of Valeintines treats and she became nostaligic remembering how every year we’d put them together for her classmates.

This reminded me that Valentine’s Day should go beyond romance. Media would have us think it’s only for lovers, causing people to be disgruntal and unhappy on Feburary 14th every year. No need for any of that, here are some thoughtful ways to share love with those around you:

Family Love:
Cook a special meal together, write heartfelt notes to each other, or start a fun family tradition like a game night or movie marathon.

Friendship Love:
Send a text or card reminding your friends how much you appreciate them. Even better, plan a brunch, virtual hangout, or small gathering to celebrate your bond.

Acts of Kindness:
Share love with your community by donating to a local shelter, volunteering, or simply complimenting a stranger. A little kindness goes a long way.

Kids and Valentine’s Day:
Make DIY Valentine’s cards with your little ones, bake heart-shaped cookies, or read books about love and kindness together.

Self-Love:
Don’t forget yourself! Take time for self-care, whether that’s indulging in a favorite treat, relaxing with a good book, or just taking a moment to reflect on your own journey.

A Day for Everyone
Love is too beautiful to be limited to just one kind. Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to remind the people in our lives—romantic or not—that they are cherished.
